What is a reflexive pronoun?
Difficulty: Easy
Reflexive / Emphatic Pronouns are used to denote the turning of the action upon the doer. They are formed by adding:
‘self’ to ‘my’, ‘your’, ‘him’, ‘her’ and ‘it’ and selves, to ‘our’ ‘your’ and ‘them’; as, He hid in the room
Example:
They cursed themselves in despair
When a reflexive Pronoun is used immediately as the Personal Pronoun, it makes the statement more is called the Emphatic Pronoun
As I myself did it. You yourselves agreed to it. Great care should be taken in the use of a Reflexive nun.
